The top go-to places for this month.

Vancouver is the one of the few cities in Canada that are always busy and keep their residents occupied with entertainment and fun. And with August right around the corner, there is plenty of events lining up for the Vancouverites to be a part of. From fine dining to muddy hikes, from special screenings at Cineplex to movies under the stars, the month of August has a lot in store for us to relish.

1. The Honda Celebration of Light, August 5 (English Bay & Second Beach)

The event consists of a major Fireworks display and a crew of performers to keep the local and distant fun-seekers entertained throughout the day until dark,
when everyone goes quiet to see the sky be covered with the lights from the fireworks. After Canada day, this is the one event to look forward to, if you enjoy

2. Theatre Under the Stars, August 1-19, (Stanley Park)

The outdoor theatre at Stanley park featuring The Drowsy Chaperone and Mary Poppins for three weeks, and it is an ideal place to be at if you are one that
enjoys stargazing, a warm beverage and a nice musical with someone you love and care about. It is a great event to make an appearance at and impress your
better half with a nice romantic evening! Stanley Park also has summer movie nights, and this month’s features include a 1991 version of Beauty and the Beast
(August 1), Jaws (August 8), Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets (August 15) and Guardians of the Galaxy (vol. 2) (August 22).

3 Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival 2017, June 1- September 23, (Vanier Park)

This is a Shakespearean event that takes place every year in the summer at Vanier Park. This year they are showcasing plays that include Much Ado About
Nothing, The Winter’s Tale, The Merchant of Venice, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. So, a shout out to all the people who love Shakespeare and his plays to
come out and enjoy this awesome festival while you can and take a dive into literature.

4 Richmond Night Market, May 12- October 9, (River Road, Richmond)

The largest and most amazing night market in North America is happening again this year at River road in Richmond. The Asian themed market is a fun place for
both adults and kids. The new attraction this year is the dinosaurs, they are giant and moving, roaring and very life-like creatures that the children are amazed to
see. The market displays a lot of clothing, jewelry that is cheap and yet fashionable. The food is a must try here. The extremely rich flavors of the street food, especially the seafood available here is mouth-watering and the famous smoking mocktails and Rotato speak for themselves.

5 KitsFest, August 18-20, (Kitsilano Beach)

KitsFest is a 3-day summer sports festival at the Kitsilano beach that has a varied range of sports to play and Include DJ music all day long. The event starts at 8:30 in the morning and runs till the evening, with sports that include beach volleyball, water polo, yoga, Zumba, touch football, tennis, and even spin classes.

These are the top five on my list to enjoy with plenty of other fun and adventurous places to be at this summer!
