Little Rocker Fashion at BottleRock Napa Valley

Little Rocker Fashion at BottleRock Napa Valley
My Little Rocker daughter and I recently got back from our second trip to an annual 3 day music festival called BottleRock Napa Valley. We’re big Michael Franti fans, and this was her 3rd time seeing him, 4th if you count the time I was 6 months pregnant with her.

We managed to pack really light, just a carry on each, and not the carry on you have to pay extra for, the kind that fits under the seat in front! We love flying on Allegiant, and I’m glad that their charges are a la carte because it means the two of us can usually fly round trip out of Bellingham, Washington to Palm Springs, Los Angeles, or Oakland for $300 all in. This is when it really pays to have a capsule wardrobe.

My Little Rocker wore her usual travel gear, a dress, comfy shoes, and her travel fedora.

We flew in to Oakland the afternoon before BottleRock Napa began. Our cousins picked us up at the airport, and we drove the scenic route to Napa where we stayed up way too late visiting.

The concerts started at noon with bands that I’d never heard of, but we didn’t arrive until just before 4pm when Martha Stewart, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were going to be cooking together on the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage. Martha has some street cred, and though she can hold her own with the likes of Snoop, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, she still comes across as kind, and funny.

We found a spot on the grass and settled in for an evening of music starting with Fitz and the Tantrums, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and finally Friday night’s big event Maroon 5.

We kept our eyes open for other Little Rockers, and spotted this adorable Baby Rocker whose parents kindly let me snap a pic.

BottleRock Napa Valley is a family friendly event, and Little Rockers get in for free. We saw some really stylish kids, dressed for both fashion and comfort. I’m happy to report that I didn’t spot any men wearing the RompHim!

On Saturday we danced to Michael Franti, and later listened in awe to Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals. They were outstanding!

That night, by the time Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers came on, the crowd was getting wild and we exited a little early. We could hear the rest of the set as we walked back to Napa Private Tours where we had parked the car. We decided to skip the third day of the festival, and visited a few wineries instead, including our favorite, Liana Estates. We spent a few more days visiting family in the area before heading home to do laundry and pack for our next trip, Sweden and Helsinki!

Groupons for Places Where Moms Can Relax on Mother’s Day

Mother’s day is just two weeks away! Take a day off and spend a little alone time or gather your girl friends for a long overdue day out. We listed down 5 groupons to help you enjoy your day without the guilt of splurging.

1. Shangri La Body Care

Shangri-La Body Care is currently offering a spa package (with up to C$324 value) in a hot deal of C$75. Perfect for moms looking for the relaxing full package that will not break the bank. The deal includes Hot-stone massage, Body-slimming wrap and a choice of one of their 15 facials or treatments. The caviar firming treatment is a good choice for those seeking an antidote to signs of aging such as wrinkles and sagging skin; the vitamin C facial, meanwhile, helps make skin look luminous and benefits clients of all ages. Then there’s the purified seaweed facial, which draws out toxins, and the diamond microdermabrasion facial, which gently removes the topmost layer of skin, helping products better penetrate. These and more others to choose from!

2. Harbor Wellness Centre

Conveniently located in the heart of Gastown, Harbor Wellness Centre is currently offering C$65 90-Minute Relaxation Massages (originally costs C$135). During each massage, certified practitioners combine Swedish and deep-tissue massage to promote full-body relaxation. Swedish massage helps promote healing while targeting pain, injuries, stress and stiffness using gliding, kneading, tapping, friction and light shaking—designed to ease back pain and help relaxation, while deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It’s used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

It’s currently 53% off on Groupon – bringing down the total to C$165 for the entire treatment.

Vinoscento Vineyards is currently offering wine tour, tasting, and charcuterie for one, two, or four people. Sale prices starts at C$15 (yes you read that right).
